چکیده
This work aimed to comprehensively examine the pretreatment efficiency of oil palm empty fruit bunches (EFB) using two different types deep eutectic solvent (DES) mixtures, i.e., choline chloride/imidazole (DES-I) and chloride/glycerol (DES-G) in terms pretreated EFB structural composition enzymatic hydrolysis. The influence temperature (55 °C, 90 125 160 195 °C), ratio (1:5, 1:10, 1:15, 1:20), time (2 h, 4 6 h) on performance generated black liquor was examined. optimal conditions for were 1:5 ratio, 2 h DES-I solvent, 1:10 DES-G solvent. carbohydrates bunch with DES-I, EFB1 DES-G, EFB2 increased 66.1%, 64.6%, respectively. hydrolysis resulted higher glucan conversion (92.4%) compared EFB2, indicating that more efficient than pretreatment. X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, variable-pressure scanning electron microscopy confirmed removal lignin hemicelluloses from during

Conversion of Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch to Biofuels
Crude palm oil production is reaching 48.99 million metric tonnes per year globally in 2011 and Southeast Asia is the main contributor, with Indonesia accounting for 48.79%, Malaysia 36.75%, and Thailand 2.96% (Palm Oil Refiners Association of Malaysia, 2011). Oil palm is a multi-purpose plantation and it is also an intensive producer of biomass. Accompanying the production of one kg of palm oi...
متن کاملCharacterisation of Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunches for Fuel Application
This study was an attempt to produce bio-oil from empty fruit bunches (EFB) of oil palm waste using fast pyrolysis technology. A 150 g/h fluidised bed bench scale fast pyrolysis unit operating at atmospheric pressure was used to obtain the pyrolysis liquid. A comparison of the elemental composition of unwashed and washed feedstock was made in this study. With the five methods of treatment being...
متن کاملStructural changes of oil palm empty fruit bunch (OPEFB) after fungal and phosphoric acid pretreatment.
Oil palm empty fruit bunch (OPEFB) was pretreated using white-rot fungus Pleurotus floridanus, phosphoric acid or their combination, and the results were evaluated based on the biomass components, and its structural and morphological changes. The carbohydrate losses after fungal, phosphoric acid, and fungal followed by phosphoric acid pretreatments were 7.89%, 35.65%, and 33.77%, respectively. ...
متن کاملFactors Affecting Delignification of Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch by Microwave-assisted Dilute Acid/Alkali Pretreatment
Microwave-assisted dilute acid/alkali pretreatment is an efficient and rapid method of removing lignin and hemicellulose, however, the optimized parameters for the maximum efficiency have to date not been presented in the literature. The purpose of this study was to determine those conditions by examining the effects of three factors: microwave power, temperature, and time on delignification in...
متن کاملOptimization of NaOH-catalyzed steam pretreatment of empty fruit bunch
BACKGROUND Empty fruit bunch (EFB) has many advantages, including its abundance, the fact that it does not require collection, and its year-round availability as a feedstock for bioethanol production. But before the significant costs incurred in ethanol production from lignocellulosic biomass can be reduced, an efficient sugar fractionation technology has to be developed. To that end, in the pr...
